<p>PURPOSE:The titled composition, prepared by incorporating a polyvinyl butyral resin in a partially hydrolyzed and condensed alkyltrialkoxysilane, having improved adhesiveness without the pretreatment, and capable of giving a film having improved scuff resistance, flexibility, transparency, etc. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. partially hydrolyzed and condensed alkyltrialkoxysilane expressed by the formula R<1>Si(OR<2>)3 (R<1> is 1-4C alkyl; R<2> is 1-4C alkyl) is incorporated with 0.5-6pts.wt. polyvinyl butyral resin, preferably having a polymerization degree of 200-2,000 and an acetalization degree of 55-65%. A curing catalyst is added to the resultant composition, dissolved in a solvent, applied to a base material and cured under heating to give a protective coat. The composition is usable for a coating material requiring the transparency as a substitute for safety glass, window glass, etc.</p> |
