1496353 Packaging tubes RAYCHEM SA NV 12 Feb 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 6517/74 Heading B8C A tubular article 1 is packaged in a onepiece tubular waterproof plastics wrapping 3 which extends through the article and back over the outside of the article and back over the outside of the article, the ends 5, 7 of the wrapping being joined together by heat sealing, adhesive, clips, or staples. Preferably the wrapping is of polyethylene film. As shown, the article 1 is a heat-shrinkable sleeve with a mastic lining 2 for covering a welded pipe joint. The wrapped sleeve can be placed over a pipe prior to pipe joining, and subsequently slidden into position over the joint, the wrapping being removed immediately before the sleeve 1 is shrunk on to the pipe to cover the joint. A release paper 8 may be provided between the wrapping and the mastic layer 2. |
