PURPOSE:To accurately treat a low voltage electrode below the maximum rated voltage of a cathode-ray tube by aging the low voltage electrode at low voltage within the range in which the degree of vacuum within the cathode-ray tube is low and the Paschen's law is estabilished. CONSTITUTION:When the degree of vacuum within a cathode-ray tube reaches about 10<-1> to 10<-2> Torr while the cathode-ray tube whose manufacturing assembly process 1 is completed is being discharged through an exhaust process 2, voltage is applied to a focussing electrode and another electrode is grounded. The high voltage aging of a low voltage electrode section which performs low pressure gas glow discharge or spark discharge, i.e. low voltage electrode treatment 151 is performed. Then after getter flash process 3, the cathode aging process 4 is performed. Subsequently, the high voltage electrode treatment 152 is performed and the subsequent process 6 is performed. Thus the low voltage electrode treatment is enabled at approximately 1/2 to 1/10 voltages. As a result, discharge is prevented from occurring at the base pin outside the tube and in a socket and the high voltage aging of the focussing electrode section can accurately be performed. |
