A thyristor gate, for example, part of a thyristor coupler for alternating current, consists of a plurality of series-connected groups with semiconductor elements, for example, TY1-TY6, each one with antiparallel- connected semiconductor element, where the semiconductor element for at least the one conducting direction is comprised of thyristors. When the gate is connected from the nonconducting condition, the gate's control pulse circuits SPD1-SPD2, TK1-TK6 put out a series of simultaneous ignition pulses for the thyristors in the gate which have blocking potential, and then when the conducting direction of the thyristor gate changes, an individual ignition pulse is put out to each thyristor at the instant the thyristor receives the blocking potential. <IMAGE> |
