The pressurized gas bearing supports the main shaft of a wire twisting machine. The housing is formed by box member with four walls which the top wall (2) is a semi-circular channel. Holes (3) extend through the top wall and are directed towards its axis. A pressurized gas inlet (4) is situated in the bottom wall (10) of the area enclosed by the walls (5) forming a reservoir. When the shaft is in position the clearance is such that a boundary layer of pressurized gas to support the shaft with its axis and the top wall's coincident.
