PURPOSE:Polyester fibers that have a number of depressed grooves on the surface, which have a long axis directed perpendicularly to the fiber axis and saw- teeth like peripheries, thus showing good luster, friction properties, antipilling and antisnagging properties. CONSTITUTION:A polyester mixed with 0.5-10wt% of a powder of 1-500 millimicron diameter is melt-spun simply or subjected to conjugate spinning so that more than 30% surface is covered and wound up. Then, the fiber is treated under tension of 60-95% primary yield stress at a temperature lower than the secondary transition point for an enough time to produce fine crackings, then drawn. The resultant fiber is treated with an alkaline solution to reduce the weight by more than 0.1wt% to make more than 25, per 1mm. fiber length, of depressed grooves with a long axis directed perpendicularly to the fiber axis and peripheries of saw-teeth shape, thus producing the objective fiber. |
