The invention relates to a Jacquard machine for controlling the shedding of a loom with small needles which serve both for sensing holes present in an unrolling paper and for transmitting this information to the needles controlling the sinkers by means of rows of rods. These small needles (23) have the form of an elongate frame, the bottom side (23a) of which is equipped with a rod (23b) which is directed downwards and the free end of which serves for sensing the paper (2). The topside of this frame interacts with a spring rocker (25) which presses the small needles against a horizontal grid (26) moved to and fro in the vertical direction. This movement causes the downward movement of the small needles as a whole in the direction of the paper (2). The needles (6) corresponding to the small needles most of which are arranged inside the supporting device (27) pass through the rectangular spaces (24) formed in the middle of the small needles, so that their corresponding ends interact or do not interact with a stop (23d). The displacement of the supporting device (27) to the right causes a movement in the same direction of the needles (6), the end of which is located opposite the stops (23d) of the small needles, whilst the other needles pass through the passage (24), so as to enter a recess (28e) of the blocks (28) which form the supporting device (27). <IMAGE>
