A universal milling machine has a worktable 10 fixed to a vertical face plate 8 so as to be rotatable about axes 16, 14 and 12, the angular range of movement of the table 10 about the horizontal axis 14 being greater than 45 degrees and being arranged about a horizontal zero position so that the table can be pivoted 45 degrees towards the spindles 30, 24 and the remainder of the range away from the spindles, i.e. a range of 60 degrees spread between +45 degrees and - 15 degrees. The machine comprises column 2, a horizontally movable spindle head 22 carrying spindle 24, a further spindle head 26 movable horizontally relative to spindle head 22 and carrying spindle 30 and its drive motor 28, a slide 6 movable vertically on the column 2 and the vertical face plate 8 movable horizontally transversely of the column 2.</p> |
