An apparatus for filling rigid or semi-rigid containers under an inert atmosphere wherein a product which is oxygen sensitive is subjected to purging and treatment by an inert gas from a storage station for the product to and including a filling station where the product is placed in a container. In a preferred embodiment, a prelidding station is in fluid communication with the filling station and accordingly shares the same inert gas environment as the filling station. The apparatus of this invention affords a continuous filling operation and can provide both a prelidding and subsequent overcap to a filling container for maximum sealing purposes. |
