A dishwasher 13 comprising a conveyor 37 has a lever 15 disposed in the path of a tray 33 loaded with dishes 35 to be washed, the end 27 of the lever having a magnet 29 which actuates a magnetic switch 31 when the lever is tripped by the tray. The magnetic switch is connected to a timing mechanism 41 which allows the pumps, final rinse cycle and conveyor to operate for a predetermined amount of time.
