摘要 <p>In the manufacture of a linked belting, such as for papermaking machines, the two sets of strand coils are aligned for the insertion of the bonding. The free space for the intermediate strand coils, at least in the junction zone, is so filled that the final strand coil cannot distort in the direction of the linked belting. Pref. butts are inserted to fill the free spaces in the intermediate strand coils, in the form of needle studs which move up and down with the advance cycle of the linked belting, or they can be flexible blades, or brush bristles or rubber pads. Alternatively, strand coils can be shaped so that there is a coil with its longitudinal axis across the line of the linked belting, to fill the free space, formed by passing it over a roller on a moving carrier, and is passed into the intermediate strand coil at an angle between the two coil strands, and a number of such filler coils can be inserted at the same time, in a movement of an inserter across the belting width. The system simplifies joining linked beltings together, so that prodn. costs are reduced to allow the advantages of linked beltings to be employed without increasing equipment costs.</p>
