The appts. is used for cleaning shores of river banks polluted with oil deposited following disasters to tankers or offshore oil workings. Use is made of a sieving roller (1), with a wormgear conveyor (2) inside it, and a suction device (3) effectively connected with the conveyor. The conveyor can comprise a spindle running partly left and partly right (5) with hollow interior forming a pump tube; an opening is provided at the seam point between the two opposite spindle parts. Separate rotary drives can be provided for roller and wormgear.
