Method of producing methane from vegetable and/or animal wastes in liquid and/or solid form and of the kind consisting in disposing the said wastes into at least one container where they undergo an aerobic fermentation before being dipped and displaced inside of an anaerobic fermentation enclosure containing a methanic fermentation liquid, characterized in that at least the upper portion of the container is kept flush with the level of the aforesaid methanic fermentation liquid during at least one part of the way of the containers within the anaerobic fermentation enclosure.
