The metal and/or plastics socket is fixed in a drilling in rigid or semi-rigid material and comprises a casing with an axial space accommodating an anchor bolt. On the outside of the casing (11) are a number of blades or tongues (12) at any desired angle to it, allowing insertion of the socket (1) in the drilling (2), but gripping the walls of the drilling so as to oppose movement in the reverse direction. Similar tongues can also be provided on the inside, so as to allow insertion of a bolt (4), but then gripping it to prevent extraction.
