The window is tiltable about a horizontal axis (30) at the bottom of its frame and also about a vertical axis (40) at one side of the frame. It is controlled by a single operating handle (48). This is mounted on the side opposite the vertical axis, and has two control positions for the two axes, a locking position and a further position for controlling an arrangement of levers (22) at the top for a position of tilt about the bottom horizontal axis, but locked partly open at the top. The handle controls an operating mechanism with sliding levers inside the frame, with sections connected by a flexible strip at the corner. This terminates with a sliding catch (42) at the top which locks the top levers and also controls the release mechanisms to enable the window to tilt about the alternative axes.
