The workpiece (1) rests on an ejector (7) at the start of the bending operation, with all holes already punched. To achieve a perfect alignment of the two holes at the ends of the workpiece the ejector is fitted so that a precise shift of the ejector and thus of the workpiece to either side of the symmetry axis (III-III) can be set. The ejector is provided with sloping guide surfaces (4d,5d) orientated in the same direction, sliding on counter surfaces (7a,7b) on holder elements (4,5). Bolts (11,12) and nuts (13,14) are used to shift the ejector axially and at the same time, due to the sloping guide surfaces, a shift in lateral direction takes place to correct the position of the workpiece in relation to the bending ram.
