Fodder cut and fed to tractor-mounted hopper - is weighed by manometer in hydraulic lift feed line

A device for measuring the weight of a quantity of fodder cut from a stack of fodder, e.g. silage, by a milling cutter and fed into a receiving hopper, both mounted on a unit for front or rear attachment to a tractor or trailer, is constructed as follows. The hydraulic feed line from the tractor to the lifting cylinder which supports the weight of the hopper, cutter etc., contains a manometer. Pref. there is a shut-off valve upstream of this manometer, esp. a three-way valve. Used in particular where quantities of maize or grass silage stored in a silo are to be extracted and mixed with other additives in predetermined porportions. The method enables the heavy fodder to be weighed with comparative accuracy by a very simple procedure.
