The auxiliary apparatus allows gymnastic exercises to be carried out from the lying position. It comprises a cross-beam (1) held clear of the floor by a supporting arm (2), the latter having at its end furthest from the beam an angle-section plate (3) fixed to the floor. Arm and plate can be rigidly secured together, or the arm can hinge on the plate by links, both having holes through which a locking pin can be inserted. Alternatively, the beam can be attached to the plate by a belt of textile or elastic material such as rubber.
