The conical can is made of thin sheet metal. It has a weld seam (2) in its side wall (1A-C) which lies in a plane containing the central axis and a bottom (3) which is connected to the side via a toroidal annular fold (4) whose cross-section lies within the outer contour of the side. The side may comprise a conical portion (1A) connecting to a larger-diameter cylindrical portion (1B) at the upper end of the can via an annular shoulder (1C). The can may be produced starting from a cylindrical can with weld seam and bottom by forming under pressure applied via a cylindrical elastomeric element inserted in the cylindrical can.
