PURPOSE:To produce a cation exchange membrane whose current efficiency does not decrease during the electrolysis of an alkali metal halide, by sticking two types of perfluorocarbon polymer film having specified groups and converting the specified groups into sulfonic groups or carboxyl groups. CONSTITUTION:A perfluorocarobn polymer film having groups convertible into carboxyl groups and sulfonic groups (the ion exchange capacity of each type of group, as carboxyl group or sulfonic group, is 0.5-1.2meq/g) and a perfluorocarbon polymer film having groups convertible into carboxyl groups (the ion exchange capacity of the groups as carboxyl groups is 0.8-1.5meq/g) are heat-bonded together under pressure at 150-300 deg.C and then hydrolyzed to convert the groups into carboxyl groups and sulfonic groups. |
