PURPOSE:To easily obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, dicarboxylic acid, diamine, etc., from an inexpensive raw material in high yield, by reacting 1,6-dichlorohexane with an aqueous solution of sodium cyanide in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be produced by reacting 1,6- dichlorohexane with an aqueous solution of sodium cyanide in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst of formula (R1-R4 are 3-10C alkyl) (e.g. tetralkylammonium bromide) under normal pressure at 80-140 deg.C for 0.5-8hr, preferably at 90-110 deg.C for 2-4hr. The aqueous solution of sodium cyanide may be commercially available solution having a concentration of 30-35% and the amount is preferably 2.1-2.6mol per 1mol of the 1,6-dichlorohexane. The amount of the catalyst is 1.5-10g per 1mol of the 1,6-dichlorohexane. |
