<p>A particularly felt problem in the textile industry, is that of ironing knitted fabrics which tend to roll up at the edges thereof. This problem is solved by an ironing apparatus, provided with a lower conveyor belt 2 and an upper conveyor belt 20, cooperating to hold and entrain the fabric to be ironed. The belt 2 has the operative run thereof extending over a rigid platform 11, provided with means for applying steam vapour to the knitted fabric being ironed. At the inlet, the bolt 2 passes over a platform 10 and a guide roll 21 for the belt 20 is mounted on a swingable plate 30 to permit insertion of the fabric. An end platform 13 is further provided with suction ports for withdrawing moisture from the fabric. <IMAGE></p> |
