1,256,366. Treating textile webs with liquids. PAUL WEBBER A.G. 9 Dec., 1968 [8 Jan., 1968], No. 58357/68. Heading D1L. A textile web 3 passing at a constant speed over the perforated periphery of a rotatable drum 4 is treated with a liquid discharged in the form of a steady non-turbulent laminar stream through at least one nozzle formed by two strips curved to meet at each end and whose width to spacing ratio is between 3:1 and 7:1. The nozzles are curved at their outer ends and the width of the nozzle openings and their distance from the drum may be adjustable. As shown, liquid is discharged from two pressure chambers through nozzles 5, 6 towards the drum 4 and is recycled via a line 14, pump 12 and valves 13 in lines 10 and 11. In a modification the nozzles have a common pressure chamber which may be situated in the interior of the drum upon which the web is held by an endless belt (17). The apparatus may be used for dyeing, bleaching or washing. The web may be woven, knitted, a fleece, or textile fibres held between two nets. |
