Closure device for an enclosure

The closure device for a pressurised enclosure comprises a shell (2) and a mating shell (3) intended to be prestressed in the opening of the enclosure (1). The upper shell (2) is connected to a bearing ring (4) by a bearing device composed of prismatic wedges (5) inserted in the annular space lying between the shell (2) and the ring (4). These wedges are installed by tangential displacement produced by jacks (8) arranged between each pair of wedges (5). These wedges then ensure the compatibility of the displacements between the bearing ring (4) and the shell (2) by sliding of the wedges on the bearing surface of the ring. The shells (2, 3) are prestressed either by flat jacks (13) arranged between the shell (2) and the mating shell (3), or by the jacks (8) placed between each pair of wedges (5). The device is used for closing an enclosure (1) containing a pressurised fluid at a low or high temperature, such as a cell of a nuclear reactor vessel, a reservoir or a gas holder.
