The automatic transport and loading mechanism is for rounds of large-calibre fixed ammunition from magazines for a vehicle-mounted gun for continuous firing. A mechanical grip moves the round from the storage position into a loading passage for insertion by a ram in the firing position. The rounds (6) are accommodated in magazines (3) in a number of layers on both sides of the passage (10), extending roughly in the direction of the gun (2), while a transport truck (14) at their breech ends isequipped with an extractor punch. The truck travels horizontally on rails (16) over the width of the magazines, while the punch is vertically adjustable on it for the amount of their height.
