During cleaning of handpieces (3) the cleaning agent present in the interior of the handpiece is to be pressurised by a pressure drive (4), movable parts (2) arranged inside the handpiece simultaneously being moved by a movement drive (7) located in a housing (1) which also comprises the pressure drive and delivers the pressure through an outlet opening (5) via engagement means (8) accessible through the outlet opening (5) and via counter-engagement means (9) accessible through an inlet opening (6) of the handpiece. For attachment of handpieces (3) having different counter-engagement means (9) or handpiece parts (10) to the outlet opening (5) of the housing, and for cleaning them while moving their movable parts (2), the outlet opening (5) is allocated several different engagement means (8a, 8b) for selective engagement with the different counter-engagement means (9) of the handpieces (3) or handpiece parts (10).
