摘要 <p>In liq. phase processes involving transient active reagents such as catalysts or micro-organisms, the reagents are subsequently physically sepd. from the reaction products for possible reuse. Pref. the sepn. is effected by ultrafiltration in one or more stages, the pore size being chosen as a function of the reagent molecular wt. Pref. the filter unit is in line with a reactor in which the process material is treated with recycled and/or fresh reagents. Used esp. for processes involving enzymes, e.g. treatment of foodstuffs such as fruit juices, to hydrolyse starch, instead of destroying the residual enzymes etc. by chemical or thermal treatments with associated energy costs. Recovered reagents may be re-used, thus increasing reaction efficiencies. Applicable to batch or continuous processes. Simultaneously clarifies the prod.</p>
