A pressure exchanger rotor comprises inner and outer shrouds 14, 15 between which extend angularly spaced vanes, the vanes being formed from a plurality of vane portions 16 having complementary surfaces secured together and provided with grooves 21 for the passage of cooling air. In Fig. 2 the rotor is formed from sheet metal laminations corresponding in configuration to the crosssection of the rotor and bonded end-to-end. The grooves 21 are provided on one, or both, end surfaces of each vane portion 16. In Fig. 5 the rotor is formed from axially extending channel members 33 having their side walls 34 bonded to adjacent side walls and their edges received in recesses 36 in a shroud 25. The cooling grooves are provided in the outer surfaces of the side walls and may be "S" shaped. The grooves are produced by machining, imprinting, photo or chemical etching. engraving or electro-chemical machining. |
