A photosensitive component for electrophotography and an electrophotographic copying process employing the same are provided. The photosensitive component has a first and a second light-transmitting layer which are provided consecutively on a conductive substrate. The first light-transmitting layer consists of a material whose spectral sensitivity prevents an exposure during the irradiation with light for exposing the second photosensitive layer. According to an alternative, a filter layer is arranged between the first and second light-transmitting layer and prevents exposure of the first light-transmitting layer during the irradiation with light for exposing the second light-transmitting layer. The photosensitive component is subjected to a uniform charging step, an imagewise exposure step using light of a wavelength to which only the first light-transmitting layer is sensitive, and a uniform exposure step using light of a different wavelength to which only the second light-transmitting layer is sensitive in order to provide a latent image. The latent image is then repeatedly exposed to toner development and toner image transfer steps in the method as many times as corresponds to the number of copies to be produced. <IMAGE>
