Advantageous process for manufacturing a hollow machine cylinder subjected to a strong erosion and a high pressure, utilized in particular in machines working plastic materials. A blank is formed by forging and hot-rolling a starting blank, preferably cylindrical, made of a hard and wear resistant core covered by a construction steel envelope. During the forming, the cross-section of the core is decreased by at least 20% and a bond between the core and the envelope is obtained. The cylindrical cavity is then formed, the core is hardened and the machining is effected in order to obtain the final dimensions. |
