A wheel for a shopping trolley is equipped for being conveyed on an endless belt with grooves in which the wheel rim sits. A brake is active on these circumstances by resting upon the belt ribs on either side of the groove, while a lifting element enables the trolley to ride up onto the "fingers" of a transfer plate or comb at the end of the conveyor belt. This lifting element is either in the form of a shoe or a twin roller mounted with its shaft on the disc around which the trolley wheel runs. In either arrangement it can be fitted with a snap connection either onto the disc occupying the centre of the roller or onto the support arm. Pref. material for the shoe is low-pressure polyethylene with a very high degree of polymerisation. Other materials include fluoroethylene, polyamide, PTFE, and polyoxymethylene. It may also be of metal with a PTFE surface.
