Pressing plate consists of a peripheral rectangular or rhomboidal frame and diagonal ribs or webs (2), a front heated plate, a rear cover plate and tubular heating elements meandering within the web and frame structure. The heating area of the plate is subdivided into central heating zones (MH), edge heating zones (RH), and corner heating zones (EH). Central heating zones (MH) are each elongated parallelograms or rectangles having a rib (2) along their central longitudinal axis (L), and one corner (6) at each end extending as far as the peripheral frame member; the edge heating zone (RH) and corner heating zones (EH) complement the remaining areas. The heating elements in the spaces (A) between adjacent ribs of the central heating zones (MH) each belong to one half of the adjacent zones: the heating elements also run through the intermediate zones between the ribs (2) and the peripheral frame. The specific heating output per unit area is equal in all three types of zone. Used in heating or vulcanising plates for the jointing or repair of conveyor belts. The arrangement assures a very uniform distribution of heat.
