A radiation shielding and pressure suppression containment, particularly for a marine nuclear steam generating system, includes concentric walls defining at least three annular regions about a dry well (23) holding a pressure vessel, one region providing a radiation shield, a second being dry, and a third froming a wet well (24) for relieving fluid pressure released from the vessel into the dry well. Baffle plate (34) extends vertically from an enclosure over the second and third regions into a pool (30) of liquid partially filling the third region to divide the upper part into a number of circumferential parts.
