<p>A plastics vessel contains extinguishing powder under the pressure of a non-flammable gas. The vessel is provided with a plate on its top by which the vessel can be fixed to a suitable point in the area to be protected. Following an outbreak of fire in the protected area, the vessel bursts either by heat or impact and the pressurised gas disperses the extinguishing powder in an instantaneous action. As an alternative the vessel can be made of solid material in angular box shape with hinged lid with locking mechanism which is released by an impulse produced by the outbreak of fire.</p> |
