The lapping discs (10,11) are ring shaped, plan-parallel metal plates, isolated from one another, and between which, planetary type moving gears (12,13,14,15) made of thin sheet metal, are situated. The teeth of the wheels mesh with a central driver wheel (16), and an outer ring (17) with internal teeth, surrounding the two lapping discs. Disc-like bodies i.e. quartz discs, move in tracks which cover the lapping discs as symmetrically as possible, and erosion of both sides of the discs occurs due to the relative movement and use of a lapping medium. To measure the noise voltage between diametrically opposite wheels (12,14), the upper lapping disc (11) has cylindrical electrodes (23,24) flush with its lower surface. The voltages are amplified and used to control the lapping process on the piezo-electric material between the lapping discs.
|
