PURPOSE:To reduce a time required for replacement of a tool and speed change of a main spindle, by performing key engagement while rotating the main spindle at low speed further operating a change gear shift while rotating the main spindle at low speed. CONSTITUTION:If a tool replacement command is output from a numerical control device (NC), an arithmetic control device 84 reads speed of a main spindle at the time of tool replacement, then detects a gear shift position from states of on-off in limit switches LS1, LS2, thus decides speed of a motor at the time of tool replacement on the basis of its detection result. The decision is output to a motor driving circuit 88 through a DA converter 87 to rotate the driving motor 31 at low speed. The arithmetic control device 84, after its switching to the rotation at low speed, outputs a tool replacement start signal to start tool replacement operation. After replacement, the arithmetic control device 84 decides the shift of a gear 30 by a cylinder 80 in accordance with assigned speed of the main spindle. |
