PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a scanning track due to a relative position shift between a laser beam and a photoreceptor by detecting the intensity of a lantent image by the laser beam and by exercising the deflection control over the scanning direction of the laser beam according to the detection result. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 13 from a laser generator 15 is passed through a beam deflector 65, a polygon reflecting mirror 17, and an f.theta lens 19 to scan on a photoreceptor 21. A potential sensor 61 detects the potential of a latent image formed by scanning the laser beam, and according to the detected level, a laser beam deflector 65 deflects the beam derection through a controller 63. Therefore, even when the laser beam can not scan on the photoreceptor accurately owing to vibrations, the generation of a scanning track is prevented by deflecting the laser beam. |
