A dial pointer 413 with an externally threaded shaft 415 is angularly and axially adjustably secured on an internally threaded bushing 417 provided within one end of a hollow meter shaft 419, a locknut 427 locking the pointer in position. The analogue display is part of a modular analog/digital display for use in a cylindrical aircraft instrument housing designed to enable the digital components to be assembled without interference to the analog meter mechanism. The digital display is of the leadless type and is clamped under compression to a circular circuit board with a pair of contact strips in registration with contacts formed on the circuit board and digital display. A modular backlighted analog/digital display for use in a cylindrical aircraft instrument housing includes an analog indicator dial backlighted by an illumination source diffused by a translucent light collecting plate having a configuration corresponding to that of the analog dial. Digital displays of the self-illuminated type, e.g. incandescent or LED digital readouts are covered by a polarizing filter to enhance image contrast and protected by an opaque coating to prevent light from the collecting plate from washing out the digits. The analog pointer is formed from a translucent material, and is connected to an analog meter mechanism and is illuminated by light from the illumination source which is transmitted through a light pipe. <IMAGE> |
