A buckle for connecting the two end portions 2, 13 of a strap with each other having a channel-shaped bottom member 1 hinged to a cover 5 and for attachment to one of the strap end portions 2, the said channelshaped bottom member having notch means 4 in its flanges 3 extending from the free edges of said flanges, the said notch means being provided to receive projections 14 fixed to the other end portion of the strap, is characterised in that the cover near the hinge axis comprises a portion 6' co-operating with a springy tongue 9 of the bottom member, to bias the cover both to a raised releasing position and to a fastening position in which in use the cover prevents release of the projections from the notch means. The flanges 3 are each provided with bosses 11 which are engageable with recesses 12 in the flanges 10 of the cover to prevent inadvertent movement of the cover from the fastening position. The flanges 10 are cranked in order to clear the projections 14 when the cover is in the closed position. There are a plurality of pairs of notches so that the strap end portion 13 can be engaged with the channel-shaped member in a plurality of positions. |
