PURPOSE:To enhance the durability of a member retaining an electrostatic image or a toner image under all usage conditions including high temp. and humidity ordinary temp. and humidity, and low temp. by forming a photosetting or thermosetting resin layer contg. a radical accepting type antioxidant on the surface of the member. CONSTITUTION:A surface layer contg. about 0.01-3pts.wt. radical accepting type antioxidant such as amine or phenol to 100pts.wt. photosetting or thermosetting resin such as polyester, acrylic or polyurethane resin is formed on the surface of an electrophotographic receptor or other image forming member forming an electrostatic image with a multistylus electrode. Said surface layer is formed on the receptor manufactured by forming a photoconductive layer on an electrically conductive substrate, or an insulating layer is laid on the photoconductive layer, and said surface layer is formed on the insulating layer. The radical accepting type antioxidant may be combined with a peroxide decomposition type antioxidant such as mercaptan to increase the effect. Thus, an image retaining member with enhanced corona ion resistance, charge retentivity, etc. is obtd. |
