<p>Removal of N-contg. impurities from liq. hydrocarbon feeds is carried out as in the Parent Patent by (a) continuously introducing the feed and a dil. aq. acid soln. into a small-capacity mixer in a feed/acid soln. vol. ratio of 0.3-13, (pref. 0.5-4) (b) mixing for not more than 2 sec. to form an emulsion, (c) breaking the emulsion in a decanter, and (d) recovering a hydrocarbon product contg. not more than 2 ppm of basic N-contg. impurities. The improvement comprises recycling 80-95 (esp. 90-93) vol.% of the acid soln. from the decanter to the mixer, the balance being removed as a purge stream and replaced by sufficient fresh acid soln. to maintain the feed/acid soln. ratio at its initial value and to maintain the pH of the acid soln. at 0.1-1.5 (pref. 0.5-1.0). The improvement reduces acid consumption and reduces the burden on waste water treatment facilities.</p> |
