The valve for compressors is composed of interconnected rigid components, each with feed and seat on one side and a limit surface on the other where it faces a second rigid component. Toothed plates are clipped in between the components to form the valve seal. To extend service life and ensure reliable function, each toothed plate (10) is made up of teeth (11,12) secured at their base to a support surface (20). The support surfaces project beyond the seat in the form of a convex edge (22) to thrust the teeth onto the seat. At zero pressure load, the teeth are clamped to the seat by the surface edge (26) to prevent fluid reflex and leakage. The support plate is relatively stiff so that the thin plates (10) are less susceptible to flexure.
