<p>The anti-spark screen consists of a horizontal shaft (3) extending across the width of, above and in front of the fire (2). A screen of chains (6) are wound around the shaft with the lower ends either hanging free or connected together. The shaft is operated by a chain (7) wound around it in the reverse direction so that a downward pull raises the screen. A counter weight (8) on a chain (9) lowers the screen when the operating chain (7) is released. The fire can be stoked through the hanging screen.</p> |
