Package for solid radioactive, readily dispersible substances to be enclosed in a container for transport to a chemical treatment plant, comprises an enclosure with a lid, prepd. from sponge metal or a porous sintered metal permeable to liq and capable of being readily dissolved in a soln. of a chemical suitable for treating the radioactive materials, at the same time as that treatment. There is no loss of radioactive substance when the dissolution occurs since the container does not have to be opened prior to treatment.
