In an apparatus for cutting an axially conveyed continuous cigarette or filter rod which comprises a rotatable carrier supporting at least one cutter, the rotating parts of the apparatus are provided with an outer surface of aerodynamic configuration to minimise the formation of vibration-producing air turbulence, the said cutter projecting outwardly of said surface. The examples describe the modification of the cutting apparatuses disclosed in specifications 973,620 and 1,017,238 by the provision of housings 30, (430). respectively. The housing 30 comprises a cylindrical casing 31 with a cover 32. The cylindrical surface 36 of the housing 30 may be of flat cross-section, as shown, or may be rounded or bevelled.</p> |
