The equipment joins two pipes together which are a clearance fit one inside the other, the intervening space being filled by a sealing bush. The end of the larger-diameter pipe contains a transverse slot more than halfway round the periphery, accommodating a horseshoe-shaped clip gripping the smaller diameter pipe for at least halfway round. The bush (18) is of ductile metal, typically soft copper. The larger-diameter pipe end can be formed by a union piece enclosed by an insulating jacket, typically of heat-insulating plastics.
