<p>A character display system for visual display systems based upon colour t.v. monitors, is designed to provide a wide range of display formats without requiring a large memory capacity. The system employs a 16 bit display memory of either a PROM or RAM type. The first 8 bits are used as locations for character codes and the last 8 bits store codings describing the display mode details, e.g., colour, intensity, blink rate, etc. Output from the memory is coupled to a character generator (2) and mode generator (4), both of which connect with the video interface.</p> |
