Diesel engine glow plug circuit - monitors engine temp to disconnect glow plug from battery

The glow plug circuit used to assist cold starting includes a temp. responsive switch (6) which interrupts the current to the glow plugs when a given temp. threshold is reached. The temp. responsive switch (6) pref. has a bimetallic switch contact positioned in the water cooling circuit for the engine. Pref. the temp. responsive switch (6) lies in the current circuit of a relay (8) operating a switch (7) for disconnecting the glow plug (5) from the battery and simultaneously coupling the starter motor (M) to the battery. This switch (7) lies in series with the intermediate contact (b) of the starter switch (3) lying between the off contact (a) and the starting contact (c).
