The automatic pistol has a magazine holder moving in the butt and with a locking lug to secure the magazine in its shaft. A holder secures the breech block in the rearmost position after the last round has been fired. The holder (10) is movable by a closing spring acting on the breech block (12) for a short distance in the firing direction, and has control faces acting on the magazine holder (4). When the breech block is held in the rearmost position, the latter is automatically brought by the lengthwise movement of the block holder (10) into the release position. Conversely, the block holder is released by actuating the magazine holder.
