The vehicle power unit consists of a cylinder block (2), a clutch housing (3) and a gear box (4) in line along its axis (1). The engine block and gear box are connected by a number of carrier plates (5) bolted to the engine block at the front on a carrier ring (6) and at the rear on the gear box end of the clutch housing (3). This forms a connection which is stiff to bending yet soft to torsion forces. Noise transfer to the vehicle body is kept to a minimum despite the short length of the connection.
